This 2-part webinar, hosted by Open SUNY's Center for Online Teaching Excellence (COTE), was presented by Dr. Rhianna Rogers. Part 1 of this 2 part webinar series discussed some innovative strategies for the creation, use, and
implementation of Open Educational Resources (OERS) in college course
assignments. The effective OER implementer follows what she refered to as
the DAURAS approach (i.e., development, application, use, reuse,
assessment, and sharing). This presentation will discuss the elements of
the DAURAS approach as well as provide some practical examples for the
effective incorporation of OERs in a college course environments.
The hope of this portion of the presentation was to contribute to the ongoing discussion of OER use and
development by providing a few examples for how to 1) use and reuse
existing OERs in a intellectually responsible and ethical way, 2)
effectively implement and apply them into current teaching models and
course assignments, 3) develop quality OERs that reflect tangible course
objectives and assignment outcomes, 4) share and disseminate them to a
variety of interested constituencies, and 5) how to assess their
effectiveness, viability, and sustainability in course assignments over
time.
