History in a Virtual World Conquest and Tragedy

Presenter: Andrew Wheelock This presentation will highlight my work creating a virtual world for history education in K12 public schools. Using a grant from NYSED and an opensource program called OpenSim, I worked with a team of people to create several virtual world simulations for teaching history and architecture. While the learning showed incredible success, the long term success was limited once the funding ran out. This presentation will showcase the successes, the challenges, and identify the hope for the future.
