This presentation will outline development of
long-term sustainability and operations plans
for Open Educational Resources. Open SUNY
Textbooks (OST) was initially funded by SUNY
IITG money and participating library
contributions towards author and peer review
incentives and copy editing services, but their
service model did not satisfy all faculty
requests.
Most faculty were seeking to adopt OER for
their own teaching and as OER is gaining
momentum as a viable solution to replace over
priced course materials, administrators have a
similar desire. In responses, SUNY created the
SUNY OER Services as a system wide initiative
to help faculty and campuses scale OER.
Mark is currently Director of Library Services at
Monroe Community College (MCC) and past
Chair of the SUNY Council of Library Directors
(SCLD). He is recognized as an Open Education
advocate and has worked tirelessly to help MCC
and other SUNY campuses adopt Open
Education Resources (OER) as a replacement to
traditional course materials. Mark is the cofounder
of the Open Education Research Lab at
the University at Buffalo.
