Community Conversation: Jim Porter - NASA and the 2024 Eclipse

This event featured a talk led by Jim Porter, a NASA ambassador, who discussed some important women at NASA and their contribution to the organization and science.

Porter will also discuss the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. On that day, the moon will pass between the sun and the earth, blocking out the sun and causing skies to darken across parts of North America. A total darkening of the skies will be visible for a few minutes in 13 states, including parts of New York and Vermont.

Porter worked as an aerospace engineer at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, CA and Goddard Space Flight Center in Silver Spring, MD.
