Bio: Em Wasserman (They/Them/Theirs)
Em is an undergraduate student at Empire State University, where they plan to graduate in the Spring of 2024 with a degree in Social Science and a concentration in Human Rights Advocacy. Em currently serves as the Student Government Association President, where they enjoy fostering advocacy- and community-oriented spaces for and by students. Professionally, Em has worked in Peer Support Services for a decade and currently works to develop and implement statewide voluntary community support initiatives for folks who experience difficult life events and/or may be let down by the public mental health system. Em accesses their passion for mutual support through academics, research, program oversight and quality assurance, offering direct support, and more. They were recognized in the Fall of 2022 for their effort with the Bluebird Award for outstanding leadership, community organizing, and volunteerism.
